Greetings! My name is Theresa and I am Phoenix Gate Crafts. What do I do? I do lots of stuff. Primarily what I want you to know me for, though, is yarn related knowledge and love!
I have been enjoying fiber arts for almost 30 years now; as of this writing I am 32 years old. I started with needlepoint when I was about three. Don’t worry! I didn’t use a sharp needle. I used yarn with some tape wrapped around the ends to make it look like a red shoelace and I threaded it through holes punched in some cardboard with a picture of Disney characters on it (I recall Ariel from The Little Mermaid). From there it has been quite a journey that took me from embroidery to sewing, to crochet and now to knitting. In fact, here is a video I made for my YouTube channel about that:
Yes, I do have a YouTube channel where I answer Frequently Asked Questions about yarn, knitting, and crochet. I’m getting better at filming and sounding natural, but it is a work in progress so please be nice! I love sharing my knowledge with others, so if there is ever a question you would like answered, feel free to write me a comment here or on one of my YouTube videos! I will definitely provide an answer, and perhaps even make a video to answer it! I’m covering subjects from how to handle a large project to how to sell items on Etsy and why copyright is important.
I also have an Etsy shop where I sell completed knit and crochet items,
hand-dyed yarn , and patterns. The items are seasonal things I make with no destination in mind, and I hope they can find a happy home to adopt them, so they are subject to change on a seasonal basis. Hand-dyed yarn will be available soon, and I will explain that in much more detail in my next blog. My patterns, however, will be there forever. Right now I have a pattern for a Narrow Market Bag that is perfect for the summer, but I will also have a doily pattern and a summer cardigan pattern coming out soon!
But what about my personal life? Well, I’m married to a wonderful man who very kindly supports my yarn habit. We are both nerds (yes, we’re Trekkies, too), though I’m more of a fantasy and band geek while he is a computer nerd (and a wonderful cameraman!) I also like pets, particularly cuddly pets like cats, dogs, and bunnies. I also have my MBA in Marketing, and my “day job” is as an in-home tutor. Yes, I am secure in the knowledge that I am a know-it-all!

So, that’s me. Any questions or comments? Feel free to drop me a line and follow this blog. I plan to post every week on Friday or Saturday evenings, and I’ll cover a host of topics and sometimes even share free patterns!
Talk to you next week!
Happy Crafting!
